In the Spotlight: Paramita
Among the youngest in the industry, Paramita is a pop rock band that started playing since 2003. This three-piece act is led by a female vocalist Ria Bautista who also serves as a drummer of the group. Other members of the trio are Marco De Leon on guitars and Alsey Cortez on bass.
Paramita took its name after a Tibetan Buddhism mantra that targets perfection. The band’s music revolves around love and relationships. Most of what they play are originals written by the vocalist herself.
In 2003, they released their first single titled “Hiling” under Vicor Records. By 2005, they have already launched their 12-track full length debut album which includes their originals written in both English and Filipino.
Overall, they have already released three albums with “Liyab” (2010) as the latest.
